Welcome to Into Teaching - a unique publication for ITT/PGCEs as well as school tutors/mentors. Into Teaching is published by Teaching Expertise - a well-established provider of educational resources.
What is Into Teaching?
Into Teaching is a new publication that aims to meet the needs of ITT trainees, PGCEs and their tutors - and is specially written by leading practitioners from some highly regarded ITT institutions.
Into Teaching is a part-work – a series of 24-page cumulative booklets, published periodically through the ITT year and continuing into the Induction year.
Each issue comprises articles on themes (strands) which run through the entire two-year series, allowing you to engage with complex and demanding issues in a progressive way.
This essential body of guidance is written by twenty authors from half a dozen universities, providing authoritative articles that are underpinned by extensive research.
How Into Teaching can help you?
Into Teaching will help you to:
- Achieve effective classroom practice – each issue brings a wealth of practical tips and advice from the experts.
- Cope with the day-to-day realities of the classroom – we help you to cope with bad behaviour, discipline, learning styles, lesson planning and much more.
- Manage your own professional development – for example, we show you how to make a positive impact in your first placement and NQT position.
- Be a successful teacher – we draw on the experiences of teachers, NQTs and trainees to bring you the very best advice and tried-andtested methods of successful teaching.
- Build a library of supporting materials to refer to as and when you need to – we deliver Into Teaching throughout your ITT and Induction years, so we can deliver materials that address your developing needs as a student teacher and will be useful for years to come.
The Into Teaching content is divided into 15 strands covering the essential content needed during the NQT year. Here is a useful list:
